A week in Lithuania

Have you ever been to Lithuania? If not, you should definitely go there and spend some time in Europe’s small treasure box.

We arrived to Panevėžys quite late on the 12th of March so we didn’t have much time to explore the city. However, we had the chance to meet the other students. There were Serbian and Spanish people in our hotel. Unfortunately the Turkish and Italian teams were in another accommodation but it didn’t stop us to talk and connect with each other.

Next day, we went to the local high school where they organized an opening ceremony for us. Here, we were welcomed warmly by the Lithuanians and we gave our presentations about our country. We were then shown around the school, where we spent a lot of time during the week, as we did our project works here. After discovering the school, we went on a sightseeing tour which was escorted by Lithuanian students and we had lunch at one of the best restaurants in the town.

We also heard a presentation of „the leader role in sales promotion” and after that we visited the steam centre. In our free time we played board games and talked with the others.

The following day started very early and it was extremely productive. We had a students’ workshop where we had to create flyers, presentations and business cards. This was the time when we were organized into teams to complete the tasks. Each team had 1 student from each country. In this way, we were able to practice the English language and communicate effectively. After we were done, we went to Šiauliai to visit the local chocolate factory where we could make our own candies and chocolates. It was really delicious and everyone enjoyed it. When we got back to Panevėžys, we went to play bowling with the Spanish and Lithuanian teams.

On Wednesday we continued to make our workshop and we still had to record a video for our company. In my opinion this was the best day especially because in the afternoon we travelled to a nearby town where we ate traditional Lithuanian meals and we danced. We got to know the culture and had a lot of fun together.

The highlight of Thursday was our visit to Vilnius, the capital of the country. Here, we took a sightseeing bus tour and had some free time to look around the city, take photos and shop. The architecture of this city was breath-taking and impressive. For me it was a friendly and warm city with kind people.

Our last full day was Friday as we had to go to the airport early on Saturday morning. In the morning, we went to see the Municipality and listened to a presentation about the lovely town. Then we went back to school, finished our projects and presented it. In the evening we were invited to a farewell dinner where we laughed and talked a lot and the Spanish girls even taught us some dance moves.

All in all, I genuinely look forward to go back to Lithuania someday as I got many friends and made connections. Even though it was cold, people filled us with warmth and kindness. I have never met so many positive personalities with whom I will continue to keep in touch. Last but not least, I learned countless interesting things about enterprises and businesses that I will definitely use in the future.
